The purpose of the 2020 Commission is to formulate
recommendations to the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) to
guide its decisions related to major health care investments and actions
in the
Finger Lakes
region.
As a basis for its recommendations, the Commission will
establish a framework that describes the next generation of health care
delivery in the northern
Finger Lakes
region (Livingston,
Monroe
,
Ontario
, Seneca, Wayne and Yates
counties).
The centerpiece of this framework will be hospital-based
resources, however,
related elements of the care delivery system will also
be considered, among them:
1.
medical
manpower, including physician training and practice preferences;
2.
consumer
preferences, including choice of providers;
3.
ambulatory
services;
4.
medical
technology;
5.
rural/urban
issues in a regional health care system, and
6.
financing
including reimbursement and Graduate Medical Education.
